HAKUNA MATATA
Welcome to my blog!! Thank you for checking in. Bare with me, as this is my first blog. I have read many blogs, and been intrigued. My name is Lila Kate, and I have worked in same job for 31 years. I work with developmentally disabled adults. I started out in a residential facility as a M.R.W. I (Mental Retardation Worker ONE). Thankfully, our titles changed few years later to D.S.W. (Direct Service Worker). And our clients were not labeled “M.R.” The term developmentally disabled is more politically correct and less derogatory. But, why do we need labels on anyone, isn’t that what our names are for? Use our names, the one our parents initially gave us.
As in the movie, Patch Adams, starring Robin Williams; there is a scene in that movie that is something I think of whenever a new resident enters the group home I work in. The scene is a bunch of med students following a doctor/teacher into a patients room. The doctor grabs the patients’ chart and starts reading starting with their age and then list all their diagnosis’ and what treatments have been tried. Robin Williams as Patch Adams raises his hand to ask “what is the patients name.” Very powerful. To me, makes sense, when meeting someone for first time, don’t you usually greet them with “hi my name is Katie” and they respond with theirs and usually say nice to meet you.
Imagine going up to meet someone and first words to them; “I have diabetes, high blood pressure, and sleep apnea.”
PHOTOGRAPHY (my hobby)
Now, to tell you about my hobby, which I am continuing to develop a better eye. Honestly, I still use auto mode on my canon rebel. Practice practice practice
One day I hope I will have my canon camera mastered or at least novice level. I have hopes and positive attitude. I do have a few photo sites that I appreciate feedback and comments on my photos. I respect honest opinions. I appreciate feedback to know what I need to work on.
I hope you enjoy my blog/photo journal.
thank you for listening/reading.
Have a great day 😊

This was taken on a boardwalk beach area near Falmouth, Ma. It was at a time in my life, that I was finding who I was. I was finally at peace, and reconnecting with myself, my friends, and family. Finding my true friends. The ones that were there for me, when I wasn’t there for myself. I was just practically widowed, kicked out of my home for being too honest (if that makes sense). But, that was the beginning of my self journey. So, along with my favorite motto, “HAKUNA MATATA.” This new motto just appeared at the right time. You know that feeling of energy around you, when the mood is just right, and things just happen, and things appear like they smacking you in the face. It’s all good. POSITIVE ENERGY
NEVER GIVE UP
